I recently had my 23rd birthday on January 7th!

Not much has changed except that I can no longer relate to the song 22 by Taylor Swift (I know, I’m sad too). I spent my birthday doing what I do best, which is drink wine while I shop online. However, I did go out to lunch with a friend of mine so I did get a chance to change out of my fabulous pj's and put on something more birthday appropriate. Fun fact: I share my birthday with Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye from The Avengers).

Maintaining your hair and keeping it healthy is the main goal when it comes to hair care. Hair that’s shiny, strong and full of volume is something we work hard for and having a reliable hair care routine can achieve that. However, there are some hair care tips that can leave your hair dull and lifeless if you’re not careful.

There are so many hair care tips and myth’s that may or may not help boost your routine. It’s important to know which of those tips are true and which are false in order to protect your hair. I came across Madison Reed, a hair care brand dedicated to providing all the glamour and quality of a salon in the comfort of your own home, to put these myths to the test.

Here are some helpful hair do's and don'ts from the stylists at Madison Reed.

Educating yourself on what can hurt or help your hair will help you in creating a hair care routine that works for you and ensure that your hair stays healthy. Make sure to check out Madison Reed and their line of hair care products and color. Their products are salon quality and are made with the finest ingredients to keep your hair looking its best. Skincare is an important aspect in every beauty routine. Taking care of your skin is essential, especially in the winter months where the air is thinner and colder. Winter can be harsh on your skin so having a few staples in your routine are essential to ensuring that your skin stays healthy and radiant.

Moisturizing and exfoliating are so important during the winter. During the colder months your skin can become dryer so having a few products that do just that are a necessity. I had the opportunity to work with St. Ives Skin to try out a few of their amazing skincare products thanks to Influenster.

Face:
I have combination and sensitive skin so using products that are gentle and give the perfect amount of moisture are important. The St. Ives Nourish and Soothe Oatmeal Scrub + Mask is perfect. The scrub is gentle enough so that it exfoliates without irritating the skin and it doesn’t dry out your skin. It also softens the skin and the scent is great and not overpowering.

Next, I use a toner to restore the PH balance and to cleanse the skin further. I use the Equate Astringent for Sensitive Skin on a cotton round to ensure that there’s nothing left to clog my pores.

Lastly, I use the Clean n Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer. The gel formula is perfect for combination skin because it adds the right amount of moisture without making it oily. The cooling sensation and cucumber scent also feels great on the skin.

Body:
Keeping your body exfoliated is important in the winter to remove any flakiness and dry patches and restore your skin. I use the St. Ives Even & Bright Pink Lemon & Mandarin Orange Body Wash. The wash is exfoliating but gentle so it doesn’t tear the skin. The wash leaves your skin feeling refreshed and radiant. The smell is also a plus. Bonus: I also apply another layer on my skin after I shave my legs to get that extra soft feeling.

Next: I use the St. Ives Refresh & Revive Pear Nectar & Soy Body Lotion. After I exfoliate, applying lotion is important to help lock in that moisture and keep your body feeling replenished and soft. This lotion helps give your skin new life and keeps you feeling moisturized for hours. The light pear scent is pleasant and isn’t overpowering, which is nice.

And that’s my winter skincare routine. Let me know what products you love in the winter? Make sure to check out St. Ives and help revive your skin’s natural radiance this winter. Use the hashtag #LiveRadiantly and tag @StIvesSkin so we can see your posts!

With Christmas right around the corner, it’s time to start planning gifts for those special people in your life. This time of the year can be so hectic with people running around trying to shop, standing in long lines and other holiday madness so personally, I’m a fan of online shopping. I can sit in the comfort of my house, wearing comfy pajamas with my hot cocoa by my side and singing Christmas songs as loud as possible with no one to judge me.

One of my favorite places to shop online is Kiss My Southern Sass. They’re an online store that features preppy, southern style clothes and accessories and everything is so stinking cute. This is going up in time before KMSS has their annual Cyber Monday sale so many of these items will be on sale! Make sure you get your hands on them before they’re gone.

If you use “MikaylaAnderson” at checkout you can get an additional discount!

Here's a preview of a few of the deals we'll have going on Monday. We'll also have giveaways going on throughout the day as well as our Happy Hour Sale.

Let’s get started.

The South Candles- Perfect for anyone who loves home goods and is a fan of unique scents. This collection features three scents: Sweet Tea, Antebellum, and Gunpowder. Antebellum is described as a blend of “the tang of a grapefruit, the sweetness of a mangosteen, and the citrus of a peach.” Sweet Tea is “mixture of fresh brewed tea leaves, honey nectar, zest of lemon, and caradmon.” Gunpowder is “an earthy blend of aged oak and warm vanilla burbon.” Gunpowder is my personal fave! They’re perfect to create that warm homey vibe this season.

State Bangles- KMSS has a variety of bangles featuring a state outline, made from real silver and gold. These bracelets are sturdy and well made. Perfect for those who love to rep their home state!

“Party Like It’s1776” Solo Cup- This is perfect for those that love America and love gag gifts. These reusable solo cups can be sold by themselves or in sets of 6 and 10. Pair these with the Bow pong balls are you’ve got yourselves a fun holiday gift set.

Kiss My Southern SassMason Jar- This glass is perfect for those southern belles in your life. This glass features in pink text “When life gives you lemons, put them in your sweet tea and thank God you’re a southern belle!”

“Made in the south” Spirit Jersey- Back by popular demand, these oversized spirit jerseys make amazing gifts. They’re soft, comfy and pair well with everything.

KMSS Wishlist LongSleeve- This green and red long sleeve shirt is obviously perfect for Christmas. The back features a wish list for “Bows, Boots, and Boys.” Um, yeah, that sounds about right.

“On Wednesdays We Wear Pink” Sweatshirt- For those Mean Girls lovers in your life. This pink sweatshirt, featuring the famous quote is comfy; a bit oversized and features our trademark bow on the back.

KMSS Long Sleeves- Okay, so like this may be cheating but they’re all so dang cute. They fit well, they’re comfortable and they feature sassy southern sayings on the back.

Happy Shopping!

As you well know, fall is my favorite time of the year. One of things I love most about fall is the dark lipstick trend. I wear dark lipstick pretty much any time of the year, but nothing completes a fall look better than a vampy lip color.

I did a post on fall lipstick faves last year, so definitely check that out for additional lip options.

These lip options range from rose toned nudes, purples, reds, and deep vampy burgundy colors. These options are all matte, drugstore options. Matte lipsticks are my favorite because they transfer less and last longer. If you want more glossy or satin finishes I’d be happy to do a part two!

Now let’s get started.

Milani Matte Lipstick- Matte Glam. These Milani matte lipsticks are fantastic. Even though they’re matte, they honestly have more of a satin finish. It goes on smooth and doesn’t tug on your lips. This is a gorgeous vibrant purple color, similar to Heroine from Mac.

Nyx Matte Lip Cream- San Paulo. I’m a huge fan of these matte lip creams. They last forever and the pigmentation is amazing. They also have a faint vanilla scent. This color is a rose toned nude, perfect for everyday wear. It’s very flattering on all skin-tones.

Nyx Matte Lip Cream-Copenhagen. This is probably one of my favorites in the entire matte lip cream collection. It’s the perfect vampy burgundy color, its redder than the other burgundy on this list. If you’re a fan of darker reds, this is the one for you.

Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick- Touch of Spice. Similar to the Milani formula, this is a creamy matte lipstick. It goes on smooth and doesn’t settle in the fine lines of your lips. It’s a darker rose nude, with more brown tones than San Paulo. It’s very similar to Velvet Teddy from Mac.

Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipstick-Cherry Bomb. These Mega Last lipsticks are absolutely amazing and ridiculously affordable. The formula is great, it doesn’t tug on your lips and it really does last forever. This dark red is perfect for the fall.

Wet n Wild Mega Last- Nightcap. This is one is part of their newest fall collection. It’s a gorgeous dark coffee brown color; it’s unlike anything else I have in my collection.

Wet n Wild Mega Last-Vintage Vibe. This is also one of their newest lipsticks. It’s a gorgeous burgundy shade, with a purple undertone- a bit lighter than Cherry Bomb. Perfect for anyone wanting to try darker shades but they want to ease into it.

Alright, those are a few of my favorite fall lipsticks. Let me know what some of your fall faves are!
