Another month has gone by, another set of favorites for you to enjoy!

June has been super busy and in my down time I’ve been writing and researching new things for my two side blogs on Buzznet and my newest blog Bone Chilling Culture Mess. So I don’t have too many beauty favorites but I do have a lot of shows, movies and my favorite people for the month.

So let’s get started.

Beauty:

Charity Pot- This is one of my top products from Lush. It’s a thick, creamy moisturizer that sinks deep into the skin to fully hydrate and soften it. It even helps soften the appearance of scars which is a huge plus. It also smells amazing!

NYX Soft Matte LipCream in Copenhagen- I literally hunted this thing down because it was sold out everywhere! So when I found this I was beyond excited and it’s been my main squeeze ever since. It goes on smooth and its super pigmented. It’s a deep, plum color- which is my go-to shade. Definitely get your hands on this.

Witch Bitch Accessories- A friend of mine owns this amazing online accessories store and I’m so in love with their stuff. She sells lace chokers, pendant necklaces, crystals, and more. It’s all affordable and every Wednesday she has a “Witch Wednesday” sale where if you enter “WitchWednesday” in at checkout you can get 20% off of your order!

Music:

Frnkiero andthe Cellebration “She’s the Prettiest Girl at the Party and She Can Prove it With a Solid Right Hook”.

I might have listened to this song on repeat, not gonna lie. Frnkiero and the Cellebration is Frank Iero’s (from My Chemical Romance) newest band with his brothers. This is my favorite song from their debut album,” Stomachaches”. I’ve always been a fan of Frank’s side projects and this was no exception.

Shows:

Orange is the New Black- Y’ALL. Bring watching season 3 of OITNB was an emotional roller coaster and I’m still not over it. They’ve already started filming season 4!

Grey’s Anatomy- After finishing OITNB, I binge watched season 11 of Grey’s. Going from one emotionally traumatic show to another was the worst but it was still beyond amazing.

Friday Night Lights- I just started this show maybe a week ago and I’m obsessed. I love high school dramas and this is amazing. Small towns, football and a shirtless Taylor Kitsch- I am here for this!

Movies:

Poltergeist- I saw the remake this month and it was so much better than I thought it was going to be. I’m a huge fan of the original so I was interested to see their take on the new film. It was the same premise with a few new twists. Still not a fan of the clown doll. #NOPE

Jurassic World- SO IN LOVE. This film was even better than I could have hoped. I’m such a sucker for action films and this delivered. Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt were phenomenal, I would absolutely see this a second time (or third).

People:

Grace Helbig- Grace is one of my favorite YouTuber personalities. She’s hilarious, talented and I’m really upset we’re not best friends. She recently wrapped up season one of her show on E! titled The Grace Helbig Show and she just announced her second book! She’s accomplished so much and she keeps growing and succeeding and I couldn’t be more proud.

Mamrie Hart- Mamrie, a NC native and the host of YouTube series “You Deserve a Drink”, released her first book! She traveled all over for her book tour and recently finished up the “No Filter” comedy tour with fellow YouTubers Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart. Still super upset I’m not their best friend.

Ingrid Nilsen- Ingrid, or “MissGlamorazzi”, is a beauty vlogger on YouTube. She recently came out in a video on her channel and since then has gotten amazing feedback from her viewers, fellow YouTubers and more. I’m beyond proud of Ingrid for finally coming out and embracing who she is. She’s a strong person and her story is inspiring.

There you have it! Those were my June Favorites. What are some things you’ve been loving for the month of June?

When I became a part of Kiss My Southern Sass I became a part of what felt like a second sisterhood. As a sorority girl I felt like I was getting a second bid day, a second set of sisters, and another amazing bond. Just as sororities have Bigs and Littles to help the new members bond with the older sisters, KMSS too has a Big/Little program to set up new reps (or Baby Bows), with an older rep. The whole point of Big/Little is to help the girls bond and for the older members to be mentors to the new girls. Your big the one you go to learn about sisterhood (or in this case company), she’s your right hand gal, and she’s there for you when you need her.

1.      From the moment you met her, you knew she HAD to be your Big. You loved every single one of your Bow Buddies but couldn’t deny the connection you felt with her. She was the one.

2.      Clue week was absolute torture because all you wanted was your Big. Clue week is the time when your Big does everything in her power to throw you off your game and you spend the whole week in a state of confusion trying to connect the dots.

3.      The moment you were finally able to call her your Big felt ah-mazing because it was finally a reality. There might have been a tear or two but its okay because waterproof mascara and eyeliner exists.

4.      You can talk to her about your awkward phase or the night you got way too turnt up and she doesn’t judge you. She’s even seen your old middle and high school pictures and still loves you and that’s like a big deal.

5.      When you feel like you’re about to have your third breakdown of the week she’s there with words of encouragement to help you contain your sanity. (Shoutout to my big during exam week- you da real MVP).

6.      She shares your love for binge watching Netflix and the 50 other shows you’re obsessed with. We share the same love for Game of Thrones and Orange is the New Black, she’s basically perfect.

7.      She can geek out with you over your shared love of Harry Potter, Daenerys Targaryen, and so much more. She even appreciates the many gifs and memes you send her.

8.      She surprises you by spamming your Facebook and Instagram with likes because she’s just as obsessed with you as you are with her.

9.      She can make your entire week by sending you those random “I love you Little” texts. It’s the little things that make all of the difference.

10.  You both were the perfect match in every single way.

Now, for those that know me know that I am all about strong female characters. My life pretty much revolves around them, they inspire me, motivate me, and they’ve all had a hand in molding me to be the woman I am today. These women have attitude, confidence and a killer wardrobe. Each character is more different than the last, which definitely explains my ever-changing style and interests.

While my life is full of female characters that have influenced me, these five women started it all. I religiously watched their movies and shows, I modeled my personality and style after them, and they continue to be some of my favorite ladies.

From a pink-loving sorority girl turned law student, to a combat boot wearing outcast that loved pizza and watching Sick Sad World.

So here are my top five women in movies/TV:

Cher Horowitz (Clueless)

Clueless was one of those films that truly shaped who I was. As a kid I admired Cher, her ability to talk her way out of almost anything, her confidence, her style and her ah-mazing revolving closet- like are you kidding me? Who watched that film and didn’t want her closet?

Cher loved a good challenge and was never afraid to speak up for what she believed in, whether it was regarding her choice of keeping her virginity until she met the right person, or on why she needed to donate her skis to the Pismo Beach Disaster Relief.

She was also never afraid to discuss her distaste for men her own age, because girl SAME! I also have Cher to thank for my love of Paul Rudd because as she realized that she loved Josh, I too realized that I loved Josh- literally my MCM every day. Cher influenced me as a kid and continues to do so- she’s also the reason I use the phrase “as if” in daily conversation.

Wednesday Addams (The Addams Family)

My love for all things creepy started when I was young. From my obsession with horror movies and creepy TV shows, I was all about that life. While other girls idolized their Disney princesses I wanted to be Wednesday Addams. Don’t get me wrong, I love Disney as much as the next person, but none of them truly captured my love for macabre quite like Wednesday (unless we’re talking about the early tales that inspired the Disney films- some of those were truly dark).

Wednesday inspired me to embrace my weirdness and own it, even if others found it or my interests a little unsettling. I can’t tell you how many times I have to hear “why do you like horror films so much? They’re disgusting!” or “why do you read about serial killers?” Blah, blah, blah- it’s exhausting.

Wednesday is fiercely herself and isn’t afraid to let others know and it inspired me to stop hiding my interests and who I am for the sake of others. Also, Wednesday and her mother Morticia’s style is iconic and has definitely influenced many of my looks. Black is such a happy color.

Courtney Shayne (Jawbreaker)

Y’all don’t even know how much I idolized this chick when I was growing up. Courtney was fierce, confident, witty, and ruled with an iron fist. Thanks to Courtney and the film Jawbreaker, I’ve always had a dream of having a slow-mo scene where I walk down a hallway while Yoo Hoo by The Imperials plays in the background.

Courtney is the reason I’m so obsessed with bold, red lipstick and she’s kind of where I adopted my bitchiness. I aspired to be her, she was the top bitch and could strike fear into the hearts of many and do it in style. Looking gorgeous and terrifying is the aesthetic I so love.

I don’t know why I’m always drawn to the bitchy main characters in films but, it started with my love for Courtney.

Daria Morgendorffer (Daria)

Daria is literally me, from her resting bitch face to her no-nonsense personality. Aside from my main chick Angelica Pickles (who deserves a post just to herself), Daria was one of the only animated characters that had a huge impact on my life. Daria was a sarcastic little shit with a realist, and often cynical, view of the world. She speaks her mind it comes off as so sarcastic that others don’t realize she’s throwing an intense amount of shade at them.

Daria was the reason I became so obsessed with combat boots and skirts and one of the reasons I’m too sarcastic for my own good.

Elle Woods (Legally Blonde)

As if I could have a list about women that inspired me and NOT mention Elle Woods- I would be lying to myself.

As a kid, watching this movie was a huge deal. Elle Woods was a bubbly, girly, sorority girl who defied all odds and graduated from Harvard Law despite those that thought she couldn’t. I was a fourth grader who wore a lot of pink that was too nice to everyone and let others tell me who I could be. Seeing Elle believe in herself and working her ass off to reach her goals inspired me and continues to inspire me. Everyone needs that “Elle Woods ‘I don’t need men, I’m gonna kick ass in Law School’” kind of motivation. As a sorority woman, I know too well of how we’re stereotyped and looked at as girly-girls that only care about looks and we’re severely underestimated. It’s one of the reasons I go above and beyond to prove others wrong.

Elle Woods inspired me to always have faith in myself, stand up for my beliefs, and never sacrifice who I am in order to be successful. Elle also inspired me to speak out against fuckboys that think that they’re hot shit. #StopFuckboys2k15

Though I have many favorite female characters, these five will always hold a special place in my heart. What are some female characters that inspire you?

Andrea Russett

My current style spotlight is on YouTube vlogger, Andrea Russett. This girl has an amazing look that tends to change day to day but one thing that remains the same is the fact that she looks fierce af. Every time I scroll through Instagram and I catch a new post from Andrea I close my eyes and whisper “goals” to myself. Kidding…kind of- girl crushing aside, Andrea’s look is often a mix of dark and edgy, and simple and classic. Which, personally I’m a fan of because my look changes day to day depending on my mood. From her bold brows to her classic white Converse, her style is something I admire.

Her YouTube channel, GETTOxFABxFOREVER, features vlogs where she pretty much just gets to speak her mind on whatever topic interests her, challenges and collaborations with her friends and fellow YouTubers, new series that she’s involved in and anything else her heart desires. Last year, Andrea was one of the featured personalities on DigiTour. I’ve been subscribed to Andrea for almost two years now, she’s hilarious and her fun-loving personality is one of my favorite things about her. She recently hit over 2 million subscribers so congrats Andrea!
Also, Like if you ever want to go shopping, feel free to hit me up. It's cool.
