October Style Spotlight

Sarah Hawkinson

My pick for October is the lovely Sarah Hawkinson. Sarah is a beauty and lifestyle vlogger on YouTube. Her channel focuses on makeup, style and Sarah also features videos on psychology, which is a topic she’s enjoyed for years and what she’s currently studying at Sacramento State right now. Sarah also has a second channel called Possessed by Horror where she reviews horror movies and discusses her favorites.

Sarah’s style is one of my favorites on YouTube. It’s cool and edgy but it’s still laid back. She’s one of those people that can look effortlessly cool and I’m like “damn, can we go shopping sometime, because I want some of your awesomeness to rub off on me?” Sarah’s been a favorite of mine for a while now because she combines the two things I love most which are: fashion and horror. My life revolves around the two and having someone that shares those passions is amazing. Like, If I could spend the day with her and watch movies, shop and talk about life- I would be beyond happy.

Sarah’s a genuine person that cares about what she loves and her viewers which is a quality I love. Her videos are relatable and her personality shines through. Definitely check out both of her channels.

Happy Halloween, boils and ghouls!

Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday, make sure you eat lots of candy and watch a lot of scary movies. At least, that's what I'll be doing.
In honor of my favorite day of the year, I created this clown look inspired by my old pal Twisty the clown (American Horror Story fans stand up!)

This was all things I had in my collection already.
The white, black and red face paint were cream products that I bought from Party City a couple years back.

Process:
Apply a white base around the face, not going too close to the edge to create a mask-like appearance.
Build up to desired intensity and then set with a powder (baby powder works).
Use black eye shadow and using a brush (or whatever you have handy) create the shape you want around your eyes. Be creative!
Use the black cream to color the shape in and then set with the black eye shadow.
Use red to create a noes and apply to your lips to create that signature clown smile.

The wounds:
This is totally optional but if you want to create wounds along side your mouth (or anywhere else) just follow these steps:
Apply a layer of liquid latex in the area you want the wound (I found mine at Party City.)
Tear strips of tissue paper (no straight edges- the more jagged the better) and place on top of the latex. Apply another layer of latex on top of the paper.
Let it dry. Once dry set it with powder to prevent it from sticking to itself.
Use tweezers to pick open parts of the tissue to create an open wound.
Paint the inside of the tears with black and red to give the appearance of a deep wound.
Add blood and voila!

If you recreate this look send me pics! I'd love to see it.

Stay spooky,

It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween!
For those that love horror and Halloween as much as I do, October is one of the months that's the most fun for us. Scary stories, horror movies and costumes! I love creating different halloween looks and this is a zombie look I created tonight in honor of The Walking Dead coming back! It's really simple to re-create. I used a makeup kit I got from party city, liquid latex and toilet paper, don't forget the fake blood
I darkened parts of my face using reds, purple and brown. Once I got the desired look, I applied a layer of liquid latex and a layer of tissue and applied latex over that. Repeat until desired thickness. I applied the same dark colors around the wounds, opening parts of the tissue to create deeper wounds with a pair of tweezers to create depth. Then- add blood! Something really quick and easy for a last-minute costume. If you're fans of The Walking Dead definitely let me know- let's be best friends!
Stay spooky.

September Style Spotlight:

Casey Holmes

Sorry there was no August spotlight, SO much was happening in August and I got a little off track. BUT, alas, here’s my September spotlight!

My pick for September is the lovely Casey Holmes, or “It’s Blondie.” With over 688,712 subscribers, Casey is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the beauty community. This Georgia peach has had her YouTube channel since January of 2012. Her channel is filled with in-depth makeup and hair tutorials, beauty tips and hauls, and style videos. Casey’s personality shines through in everything she does. Also, she has the cutest dogs, seriously.

I’ve been subscribed to Casey’s channel for about two years now; her videos are creative and very easy to follow if you want to recreate her looks. I love watching her videos and hearing her southern accent slip through because as a girl with a thick southern accent it makes her videos that much more enjoyable. It’s like we’re besties. Check out her channel and go subscribe!

Hey guys, I'm back! Here's a few of my favorite things from the month of August.
Things have been so hectic now that I'm back in school but bare with me and we'll get through this together.
If you see anything from here that you wanna give a try, make sure to check out my Luvocracy page titled "August Faves" and you can purchase anything you see here!

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer: I've been a fan of the lotion version of the Morning Burst Morning Glow moisturizer but I think I love the gel formula even more. The gel goes on smooth and has a cooling cucumber scent that refreshes your skin. I also tend to have oily to combination skin and this doesn't feel thick on my face nor make my face feel greasy.

I've been a little brow crazy lately and here are a few of my go-to products to make sure my eyebrows are always on point.
Wet N Wild Brow Pencil in "Sable": This pencil is seriously affordable, it retails for about $2 in drugstores. I have dark brows so this help fill them in without making them really harsh.
Elf Brow Kit in "Medium": I've recently been trying out brow powders and found this gem at Target for $3. The left side is a gel that keeps brows in place and the right is a powder that fills in the brows and sets the gel. I apply this using the Elf Small Angled Brush, also $3 at Target.
I set my brows with the Wet N Wild Clear Brow Gel. Great, cheap gel that keeps brows in place all day. Gels are also perfect to take away some of the products, making brows look more natural.

Wet N Wild Color Icon Pallets in "Greed" and "Knock on Wood": These two pallets have bee what I've been reaching for almost every morning before class. These pallets have perfect shadows for a basic, everyday neutral eye. It features great matte shadows as well as a few shimmers, these are perfect to make me look wide awake in the morning for class even when I feel like going back to sleep. The greed pallet features some great dupes for Mac's "Carbon", "Soft Brown", and "Shroom." Shadows are very pigmented and go on smooth.

Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara: An oldie but a goodie from my collection. I had forgotten about this mascara and began reaching for him more and more. This has a great lengthening formula that applies fiber extensions on each lash to provide maximum length. Great for everyday use.

Rimmel Show Off Lip Laquer in "Apocalyptic": This thing is crazy pigmented. The doe-foot applicator features a indention in the middle that picks up extra product so you only need to dip it in once and you're good. It's really shiny so you can wear it like that or blot the shine off for a more matte look. Speaking of which, Rimmel is supposed to be launching a matte version of these in the U.S soon!

Next, Avon Mineral Lip Gloss in "Nude": For those days when I just want something simple yet still stunning, I grab this. Great formula, non-sticky and it gives my lips a nice nude shine.
Maybelline Color Vivid in "Shocking Coral": I'm in love with this color. It's the perfect pinky coral color. It provides any look with a nice pop of color. Goes on incredibly smooth and has build-able color.
L.A Colors Chunky Lip in "Teracotta": An affordable lip crayon. It's a dusty rose beige. Goes on smooth and has a nice sheen.

Eucerin Aquaphor: Perfect for those upcoming colder months. This is a great way to moisturize the lips to keep them smooth and soft and prevent chapped lips which are not fun. Available in drugstores.

Eye Shadow Pallet in "Bare": I came across this baby in Five Below about a year ago and this is an awesome pallet! The shadows are pigmented and has a nice mix of mattes and shimmers. Great for creating a bronze smokey eye. Comes with an eyeliner pencil. $5 at Five Below.

Pantene Daily Moisture Renew Shampoo and Conditioner: I'm in love with this. I'm a huge fan of moisturizing shampoos and conditioners and this provides moisture that makes my hair incredibly soft and clean, without drying my hair out. Smells amazing!

Book Favorite:

Paper Towns by John Green: John Green never ceases to make me feel so many emotions. I was a huge fan of The Fault in Our Stars and I've been dying to read this and I found it on sale for $5 at Marshalls! Great coming of age tale of boy named Quentin Jacobsen whose mundane life gets turned upside down when his neighbor Margo Roth Spiegelman climbs in his window. This is also set to become a feature film staring Nat Wolff.

Jewelry Fave:

Paradise in Pink Necklace from Paula and Chlo: I love a good statement piece and this necklace definitely makes a statement. It's colorful and fun and it's the perfect way to add a little something extra to any outfit.

Music Faves:
Shake It Off- Taylor Swift: This song is my new jam! I love Taylor Swift and this song was something different and fun and it showcases her personality perfectly.
Anaconda- Nicki Minaj: Y'all, if this song doesn't make you wanna dance I don't know what will.
Bang Bang- Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj: I blast this song while I'm in the car with my girls and It makes me feel so fierce.
All About That Bass; Meghan Trainor: This song is all about body positivity and I love it cause I'm here to tell ya "every inch of you in perfect from the bottom to the top."
Just One Yesterday- Fall Out Boy feat. Foxes: Fall Out Boy has been a favorite of mine since I was in middle school. If y'all haven't heard this song, I don't know what you're waiting for.
Casual Affair- Panic! At The Disco: Of course, I have a Panic! At The Disco song in my favorites. Without this song I would never get through getting ready in the mornings when I'm dragging along getting ready for class. Also, this song was AMAZING live, just saying.

Okay guys that was my August faves! Remember to check my luvocracy page to buy anything featured above!
